COMING – A CONVENTION OF CORVETTES? Chevrolet Corvettes have always been a popular and collectable car, and are a hugely popular feature in car shows such as the Australian National Show and Shine Euroa. The 2018 event promises to be bigger and better than ever, with the possibility of our local Central Victorian Corvettes getting together with the Melbourne Corvettes and the Sydney Corvette Club at Euroa on October 7th, to show in excess of 30 of these marvellous machines. Logically, it is hoped to co-locate all of these cars in the same area of the picturesque Seven Creeks Park, to be nominated prior to the show. In a review of trophies for this year, the Australian National Show and Shine Committee has added “Best Corvette” and “Second Best Corvette” trophies to their existing range of over 70 awards. The 2016 top award went to local owner Russell Pell of Congupna near Shepparton, taking out the “Shannons Insurance Best in Show” trophy with his brilliant 1961 Chev Corvette. Russell is pictured here with his trophy. The name “Corvette” was coined by General Motors for their small sports car range of Chevrolets, utilising the name of the small fast warship. People in Euroa will be able to preview and photograph some of these cars between 12.30 and 3.30pm on Sunday 27th August, when the Central Vic Corvettes will be parked in Foy Street, during the lunch break for the club’s Annual Stingray Run.
