First female office holder elected at AGM

May 27, 2018

SHOW AND SHINE’S A.G.M.

At the Annual General Meeting, held in Euroa on May 23th Ross Holt was returned as President of the Australian National Show and Shine Euroa for the 2018 – 19 season.

Other Executive Office Bearers are Samara Thompson as Vice President, with Bill Ely Secretary and Anthony Clota Treasurer also returning for a second term.

Ms Thompson is the first female executive for the Show and Shine committee since its inception some nineteen years ago.

Mr. Holt distributed copies of the Annual Report, which detailed the success of the 2017 event.

“The originator of the show, Rob Asquith OAM, began with approximately 150 cars on display and several hundred spectators. The event has grown to now become one of Australia’s premium car shows, with over 1,000 high class vehicles on display and in excess of 7,000 spectators.

Our event has now become known as a “must visit” car show.”

Glenn MacDonald was returned as motor cycle manager, with Ray Read again in the public relations media manager role.

Other committee members inducted for 2018 are Alan Borden, Peter Byrne, Belinda Douglas, Jen Jones, Di Leslight, Chris Mann, John McGregor and Susan Thomas. It is likely that others may be inducted over the coming months.

Speaking about the upcoming event of October 7th  2018, Mr. Holt said that the committee is now actively seeking the attendance of a variety of additional car clubs from throughout Australia. Already, information about the event has been sought by the Sydney Corvette Club, who are looking to attend.

In addition, one of the premium attractions, the oldest racing Aston Martin in Australia, a fabulous 1923 model two-seater sports racer, will be joined by another Aston Martin - the “James Bond” version DB9 - with the likelihood of other additional cars of the marque joining in.

The committee is now close to finalising its sponsors for the coming year and will shortly commence the printing of over 10,000 flyers and posters promoting the event.
