Just one week to go until our great event – The Shannons Insurance Australian National Show and Shine Euroa.

It’s time to review just a few of the major displays which we will have on show for you. But first, I would like to emphasise one very important fact.

Located in the spectacular setting of the Seven Creeks Park and also in the streets of Euroa, we are extremely proud that our event has become one of the premium Show and Shine events in the country. After all, you don’t get to use the term “Australian National” without earning it.

From humble beginnings back in the year 2,000 when just 150 cars were present, the 1,500 plus vehicles that we now have on display is just a start. The picnic atmosphere offers the Motoring Enthusiast (you!) a veritable smorgasbord of entertainment for everybody! You will be very welcome at our family-oriented show.

It’s not just about cars, either. Big displays of bikes of every sort, trucks, stationery and steam engines. If it has an engine, it’ll be there!

In the historic CBD of Euroa, just about every shop will be open. The streets, lined with immaculate display cars will be paraded by our judges, seeking worthy recipients for the 70 plus trophies to be awarded on the day. Don’t miss the ceremonies, at about 2pm!

In the parks there’s market and trade stall, food stalls, bands with a variety of live music all day. Helicopter rides offer you an unprecedented view of the show, and a chance to see Euroa with the spectacular Strathbogie Ranges in the background.

For the kids, there’s entertainment galore! While Dad (and perhaps Mum) are taking in all of the cars, bikes and other displays, there is a jumping castle, face painting, FREE rides on our famous mini-train, a petting zoo with lots of friendly, furry animals, and more.

And so, to just a few of our major attractions. To be honest, we have so much this year that it’s difficult to know where to start.

The TESLA electric car has been the stand-out attraction, with Con Kolivas’ “S Model” P100D top-of-the-range on display, capable of 0 – 100kph in an incredible 2.4 seconds! John Gee’s Y2K superbike, powered by a turbine jet engine does 400kph, and beat a jet fighter in a drag race. Bill Anderson’s 2012 Corvette ZR1 has a 6.2 litre (378 ci) supercharged V8, producing 638hp (476 kW) at 6,500 RPM.

From the bikes, a record number of displays are expected. Euroa’s own Struan Clarke will have his 1945 Fieldmaster Arial and sidecar, together with another 1951 side-valve Ariel, amongst an expected 600+ other bikes and trikes.

Special displays include the fastest Police car in Australia, the Mercedes E34 AMG, an amazing show of CFA fire-fighting machinery (hands-on for the kids) including the mobile communications van and the CFA Education unit – always a major drawcard. Historic Ambulances and don’t miss the Rolls Royce Merlin engine that powered the Spitfire- 27 litres of supercharged V12 producing 1,500 horsepower!

I must include the Historic Speedway display by Chris Mann and myself, with ten speedway cars from a 1931 Austin seven and Humpy Holdens by Terry & Peter Cornelius, to an amazing comparison of a 1967 Falcon XP side by side with a current speedway Barra-powered Modified Saloon.

That’s it, folks. There is much more to say, but space prevents it.
